Morrinsville has made a special feature of its history with the Morrin Museum, where you can inspect an 1870s pioneer cottage.

You’ll pass through Morrinsville going to (or coming from) the hot spring pleasures of Te Aroha. While it’s primarily a service centre for the local farming community, you’ll find some interesting shops and a range of cafés.

The town’s museum includes an 1874 pioneer cottage from the district, fully furnished with authentic household items. The museum also has a Maori waka (canoe), as well as a collection of farm machinery and tools that were once in common use around Morrinsville. The Wallace Art Gallery is also well worth a visit.

A clear sign that you are in Morrinsville is the 6.5m tall Mega Cow at the southern entrance to town, a tribute to the areas rich farming heritage. As you are exploring the township you will no doubt come across the Herd of Cows? Street art installation, a collection of over 42 life-size cow sculptures each designed by different artists.
