The area is historically significant for Māori – there are several marae in and around Ōtaki, as well as a Māori college. Close proximity to the walkways of the Tararua Range(opens in new window) is Ōtaki’s main attraction. At Ōtaki Forks you’ll find picnic, swimming and camping areas.
