Highwic is one of New Zealand's finest timber houses, built in 1862 as the Buckland family home, their wealth and social status is evident in the property's grand design. A self-guided tour allows you to wander at your leisure through the lovely colonial home and to explore the 4-star Garden of Significance, a haven from the bustle of nearby Newmarket. Time your visit for the regular coal range days. Check our events page for other special events throughout the year. Highwic is available as an atmospheric venue for private functions; weddings, birthdays, and business meetings. Highwic is certified by Qualmark, whose Sustainable Tourism Business (STB) Criteria are Recognised by the GSTC for being equivalent to the GSTC Industry Criteria.
