Abel Tasman Coast Track Day Walks

Between Marahau and Totaranui, boat access allows you to walk sections of the Coastal Track, taking from 10 minutes to 7 hours.

Day walks without boat transfers (return trip along the same path) can be done from the road-ends at Marahau in the south, or Totaranui and Wainui in the north.

Boat transfers for day walks depart from Kaiteriteri or Marahau at the southern entrance to the Park, approximately 1 hour 20 mins drive from Nelson. Coach connections are available.

Pitt Head Loop Track

Ideal for groups of different ages and abilities
Take a boat transfer to the golden expanse of Anchorage Beach where you can laze on the beach, take a beach walk or walk over a low, forested saddle to Te Pukatea Bay and return to Anchorage (approx 45 minutes). Te Pukatea via the Pitt Head Loop with spectacular coastal views is approx 1 ½ hour return to Anchorage. Catch a boat back to Kaiteriteri or Marahau

Medlands Beach to Anchorage Beach

Walk the most varied section of the Coastal Track including the Falls River Swing Bridge. Medlands to Anchorage Beach takes approx. 4 hours. There are optional side trips including Cleopatra’s Pool and the Pitt Head Loop.

Tonga Quarry to Medlands Beach

A 2-hour walk from historic Tonga Quarry over a forested saddle and around the Bark Bay Waterfall track.
