Four reasons to visit the Christchurch Gondola

With stunning views of Canterbury and Banks Peninsula, the gondola is worth visiting at any time of year - there's something for everyone.

The Christchurch Gondola takes in 360 degree views of Christchurch City, Banks Peninsula, Pegasus Bay, and the Southern Alps.

It's a great base to spend the day out exploring. Ride to the top then head out along the Summit Road walkways or you can even head down into Lyttelton to check out the sights.

There are tracks for walkers and mountain bikers, plus an option to take a bike up or gondola ride up and mountain bike down.  The mountain bike tracks are suitable for the absolute beginner through to the hard core and experienced riders.

You can visit at any time of the year - winter is also stunning, and you can be lucky enough (sometimes) to get a dusting of snow at the top. In the summer and spring months the crystal blue water of Lyttelton harbour is a beauty in itself.

A cafe at the top for refreshments rounds off a good family day out. It's great for those visiting the city, even for locals wanting to escape the rat race.

There's free carparking at the base or else it's on the main bus route.

Definitely worth checking out for the views.
