Pukaha's free flight aviary allows visitors to get up super close and personal with New Zealand native birds.
There are seven different species of birds living in the aviary including endangered whio (blue duck) and pateke (brown teal) which are part of a national breeding programme.
Listen to the korimako sing, the kakariki chatter and the kaka and kereru will be perching in the trees watching you too!
As you enter the aviary you will hear a waiata (song) from local iwi lamenting the loss of the huia bird. When you enter the aviary you will be taken on a journey through NZ bush - an idea of what the restored bush in New Zealand should look like.
Enjoy a daily ranger talk in the aviary at 4pm.
