Marlborough is located in the northeast of the South Island, known for its dry climate, the picturesque Marlborough Sounds, and Sauvignon Blanc wine. Blenheim and Picton are  the main centres in Marlborough.

The renowned Queen Charlotte Track is a 70 km track renowned for its stunning views and contrasting landscape, historical landmarks and wonderful variety of native bush and wildlife. Walk it on foot, get on your bike,  or rent a kayak and see part of the track from the water. Wildlife in the Sounds is prolific. At various times of the year there are dolphins, seals, whales, not to mention a wide array of birds like gannets, little blue penguins and various native land-based species. Other rare species include the Little Spotted Kiwi, King shags, saddlebacks, tuatara lizards, and the carniverous snail Polliphanta.
