There's a range of art galleries spread throughout the wider Nelson Tasman region, showing off the talent, passion and diversity of the local artists. Some specialize in showcasing sculptural work, glassblowing or creating artistic jewellery; whilst others focus on a wider range of artworks and media.

Many galleries are locally owned and operated, and allow you to see the artist themselves working on their masterpieces. Visit Jens Hansen, creator of the ‘One Ring’ from the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies, and to the glassblowing studio at Hoglund Art Glass on Tasman’s Great Taste Trail.

During your visit, you also won’t want to miss out on the World of WearableArt & Nelson Classic Cars Museum – a must-do for all those who are fans of New Zealand’s famous wearable arts show. Nowhere else will you find such a diverse selection of wearable art garments alongside one of Australasia’s largest private collections of classic cars.

Art Expo Nelson is an annual multi-day event held in Nelson City, showcasing a range of extraordinary artwork from local and national artists. With everything from paintings to prints, to sculptures and ceramics, there truly is a treasure to be found for everyone.
