The Lake Waikaremoana Track is 46 km.
We walk the track in 4 days / 3 nights, staying in bush hut accommodation.
The track features some of NZ's most amazing forest, and is located in the heart of Te Urewera National Park, which encompasses the largest area of native forest remaining in the North Island.
Te Urewera is renowned for its mist, mysticism and primordial forest.
The track follows the lakeshore for 2 days with secluded swimming beaches and bays around every corner. The track then climbs the famous Panekire Bluffs, where breath-taking views of the Pacific Ocean, incredible Lake Waikaremoana, and endless bush-clad mountains of the National Park can be seen.
The Panekire Hut is perched right at the top, in the perfect spot for sunsets over the lake, and sunrises over the Pacific Ocean.
Our support boat carries most of the gear so you don't have to! Walking times vary from 4 to 6 hours each day over varied terrain, and we supply everything - even a glass of NZ wine with dinner!
