Home to rugged white and black sand beaches, sea-life, dramatic lakes and secluded islands, the North Island is a great place to spend your honeymoon.

Northland

Northland is known as 'the winterless north'.

Local tip - check out the public toilets in Kawakawa, they were created by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. These unique loos are a work of art, with bright colours and intricate mosaic artwork throughout.

Island hopping

Have you ever thought of an off-grid honeymoon destination?

Great Barrier Island is entirely off-grid and relies on solar power and water collection. It's a small island that's a big deal - it is one of the few islands in the world to be named an official Dark Sky Sanctuary. Get there in just a few hours by ferry or small plane from Auckland.

Or hop on the ferry and explore the other islands near Auckland
