In 1997,Crawford & Catherine Brown purchased land in Bannockburn, Central Otago and set out to make the best Pinot noir that Central Otago could produce. With a current count of three trophies and 26 Gold medals (and many more Silvers) over 10 vintages, they have demonstrated that, with quality as the over-riding philosophy, it can be done. In addition to the two Pinots noir, a barrel-fermented and aged Riesling, a Pinot noir Rosé and a Gruener Veltliner are popular additions to their portfolio.
Visitors to the cellar door sit outside (weather permitting) and enjoy the stunning views while sampling Bannock Brae's wonderful wines and listening to Catherine or Crawford tell their story.
