Wrights Vineyard & Winery produces quality organic low-allergen wines, made from our bio-dynamically grown grapes. It is a business built on kiwi ingenuity and hard work. Wrights is a family business, husband and wife team, with three young boys – adding the chaos factor.
Wrights Vineyard & Winery was established at the turn of the century when Geoff Wright (winegrower) completed his study in Viticulture and Winemaking.
The vineyards are 30 acres and located in the renowned grape growing region of Ormond Valley Road, Ormond, Gisborne. This area is known for producing high quality Gewurztraminer and Chardonnay grapes. It is also home to the famous Bensen block.
Wrights wines are estate made. The winery can process up to 40 tonnes a vintage. At present we produce 30,000 bottles a year. Our range includes our flagship wines of Methode Traditionnelle, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. We also produce Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon, Viognier and Merlot/Syrah. In 2012 we launched our new wine brand – 'The Natural Wine Company'.
In June 2011, Country Calendar is showcasing our vineyard and winery on national television. This will be a half hour programme on Wrights Vineyard & Winery. Country Calendar is a kiwi favourite and has been for a long time, being New Zealand's longest running television show. The programme focuses on our bio-dynamic techniques and our Methode Traditionnelle wine making. This nationwide brand recognition of our wines creates the perfect opportunity to improve our distribution in the market place.
