A scenic excursion to Hawkes Bay's highest point, beautiful Te Mata Peak. Te Mata Park is part of the land associated with the ancestor Te Rehunga of Ngāti Ngarengare, a sub-tribe of Ngāti Kahungunu.
The land that makes up Te Mata Park was purchased in 1862 by early settler, John Chambers. In 1927, as a memorial to their father, his sons Bernard, John and Mason gifted a 242 acre reserve on the upper Havelock North hills, including Te Mata Peak, to the people of Hawke’s Bay in perpetuity.
Perfect for great photo opportunities! The tour schedule includes a short tea/coffee stop at a nearby cafe on the way back to Napier with optional cheese tasting (fees apply).
Visit Te Mata Peak in a classic or modern car, PO Box 4077, Marewa, Napier, Hawkes Bay, 4143, New Zealand.
