… side effects of being here: heart beating caused by the landscape, fresh air, blue sky, strong sun, called summer in the southern hemisphere indeed.

Of course it’s not just about the festivals – we’ve packed in heaps of ways to experience the New Zealand outdoor lifestyle, unique culture and truly epic scenery at every turn. That includes whitewater rafting, kayaking, catching crayfish, surfing and heaps of ways to enjoy the sunshine. Not to mention all the friendly Kiwis you’ll meet along the way! Get familiar with driving in New Zealand and set out on this groovy road trip – you'll not forget it for a long time to come!
Auckland is a pretty damn awesome city to visit during the summer. With a vast variety of beaches nearby – like Piha on the wild west coast – the outdoor lifestyle here is in full swing. You can daytrip to Waiheke Island, kayak to the volcanic island of Rangitoto, party in cool bars, or hike in the Waitakere Ranges – and everything is so close.
If you’re visiting in January you might catch the Big Day Out, a music festival that always hosts an amazing amount of big global names as well as top Kiwi acts. Or at Silo Park, in the heart of the city, you’ll find the Laneways Festival, which always seems to pick the freshest upcoming artists and bands. Perhaps one of the most favourite festivals for its chilled, beachside vibe is Splore, in February, which is hosted in the Tapapakanga Regional Park south of Auckland.
