Hawkes Bay Cycle Trails

The Hawke's Bay Cycle Trails are leading the way in offering quality, easy cycling with the added bonus of great vineyards and cafes to stop at.

The Hawke's Bay is fast becoming not only the place to experience the best of food and wine but its also riding the new wave of Cycle Trails, offering up some of the best that New Zealand can offer.

Whats unique about these trails is variety... within a small area there are four main quality rides... The Water Ride, The Landscape Ride, The Wineries Ride and the iWay. While to ride the complete loop of each trails with take you from 36km to 68km you can also have the leisure to pick and choose smaller rides within these.  Worried about cars and hills... then you don't need to, most of the trails are off road and on flat land!

In a region rich in Food and Wine means that whichever ride you choose to take there will be quality refreshment stops along the way.   Our favourite ride is the Landscape Ride from Clive through to Clifton..... complete with a couple of hidden gems.

The first stop that is well worth a look at is the Clive Fort, some cool locals have made a fort out of things found on the beach with a few added extras, it's a fantastic clever piece of art work with majestic views along the coast.  Carrying on you will arrive at Black Bridge... its time to take a detour by taking the cycle trail towards Havelock North until you reach The Bivvy Cafe, a quirky cafe that runs out of a caravan offering great coffee.  Once refreshed then head back and over Black Bridge and head towards Clifton.... some fantastic views and vineyards are waiting, The Beach House, Clearview Estate, Elephant Hill and Te Awanga Estate... all with wine worth a tasting and some great platters and food on offer too.  You will end the ride in Clifton looking at the incredible cliffs of Cape Kidnappers!  There is plenty to see an do along the way so....

Why not come and visit the Hawke's Bay, view it by bike and indulge in fantastic food and wine.  If your looking for a great place to stay then why not look at Clive Colonial Cottages www.clivecolonialcottages.co.nz, we are just 200m from the Water and Landscape Rides, and offer quality accommodation.
