Heaps of skiing and loads of spectacular scenery are on offer with this itinerary, which can also be reversed. Ride or ski pristine snow at all the ski areas, no matter what level skier you are.
If you’ve never tried skiing at night, Coronet Peak is the place to do it. You’ll be awe-struck by the night sky that blankets Tekapo. Relax and kick back in Wanaka or get to know the locals in Methven.
Day 6 / 10
Today check out the snow report and head towards Cardrona Alpine Resort, approximately 40 minutes drive from Wanaka.
Cardrona is characterised by wide open basins; it features beginner trails, long blue runs and off-piste slopes, offering excitement for all. If you’re a freestyler you are spoilt for choice with four terrain parks on offer (the fourth opened in 2014).
There are some great kids’ programmes, with facilities to look after the tiniest tots – from 3 months of age – and the Kids Ski and Snowboard School for those up to 14 years.
Kick back and relax at lunch time. There are five cafes to choose from and most offer the most amazing view of the slopes.
This evening enjoy a late afternoon massage and then head off to one of the boutique cinemas, Ruby’s or Cinema Paradiso, to catch their latest flicks.
A lively town buzzing with a carefree spirit, Wanaka’s picture-perfect location and easy access to the outdoors makes it the ultimate base for your holiday.
