Walk in the Redwoods

The Redwoods is such an iconic part of Rotorua that it should be part of any visitor’s must-do list. The main walking tracks are well sign posted and start and finish at the Longmile Road carpark. The visitors centre and coffee cart will give you the information and sustenance for your adventure. A popular location for walkers, runners and mountain bikers, the Redwoods is the top spot for you to relax, get some fresh air and enjoy some gentle activity. If you wish to get a birds-eye view of the stunning forest you can try the Redwoods Treewalk, a unique walk of 21 wooden bridges and platforms suspended between 6 and 12 meters above the forest floor.

Round of Golf at RGC

Rotorua Golf Club is not like your local neighbourhood golf club. This course navigates an active geothermal zone, a round here will be an experience you will never forget, with the steam vents, mud pools and views across the nearby Whakarewarewa thermal valley and forest. The pumice grounds mean that the course benefits from rapid drainage and you are unlikely to miss an opportunity to play due to rain. Walking the course is a pleasurable experience with well-maintained paths, however the fully stocked pro shop has golf carts for hire if you prefer. The Club has an informative website with more helpful information about playing as a visitor at their Rotorua Golf Club.

Rail Cruising is your own personal fully automated railway experience through the beautiful Rotorua rolling countryside. Each Railcruiser holds up to 4 adults, or 2 adults and up to 3 young children during your 1.5 hour, 19km journey which starts and ends at the Mamaku Railway Station. The Railcruisers travel at a leisurely 20kmph and include an audio tour providing insight into this treasured piece of New Zealand railway history.
