From humble beginnings in the back room of their flat in Wellington, Richard and Tania have built Weta Workshop to be a world-leading design and effects facility servicing the world’s creative industries.
From their first official jobs creating puppets for TV and film and through their work with Peter Jackson’s early films their work expanded until they were creating more and more elaborate creatures, miniatures, prosthetics and effects.
In 1994 Richard and Tania went into partnership with Peter Jackson and Jamie Selkirk and Weta was born. Over the years they have worked on countless film and television productions all over the world and picked up countless awards for their creative fantasies.
Weta Workshop is best known for its work on the award-winning Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movie trilogies, making everything from sets and costumes to prosthetics, weapons, models and miniatures.
