Cruise both coasts of New Zealand’s warmest region, play on beaches, go sand-boarding, swim with dolphins and discover a rich culture in the north.
A round trip from Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, this journey takes in the best of New Zealand’s northernmost region – Northland & Bay of Islands.
Enjoy the buzz of a big city in Auckland, featuring funky bars and eateries to suit everyone’s tastes. When you want to get away from the crowds, just hop on a ferry from downtown and head to one of the many idyllic islands that dot Auckland’s stunning harbour. Waiheke – the island of wine – is a favourite.
Heading north from Auckland, you’ll get a taste of New Zealand’s relaxed beach culture. There are plenty of opportunities to take a detour from the main highway and kick back at one of the many spectacular beaches that dot this region. Visit the Whangarei Falls before you arrive at the beachside settlement of Paihia – your base to explore the maritime wonders of the Bay of Islands. Swim with dolphins, take a ferry to the historic township of Russell, visit the Treaty House at Waitangi for history and culture … you’ll never be short of things to do in this region.
When you’re ready, move on to Kaitaia – your base for tours to Cape Reinga and the Ninety Mile Beach. The massive sand dunes here are a sight to behold and epic for sand-boarding – a must-do!
Follow the west coast back to Auckland, taking time to discover giant kauri forests in Waipoua Forest and coastal lakes enroute.
