It’s not called the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail for nothing. On this touring route you’ll have the opportunity to taste and shop at more than 120 cellar doors, as well as a multitude of vineyard restaurants and cafés. Hawke’s Bay is the land of robust Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah; in Wairarapa, Pinot Noir gets star billing; Marlborough is blockbuster Sauvignon Blanc country.

Day 1 / 5
Napier has some of the finest Art Deco architecture in the world, courtesy of a major rebuild following a catastrophic earthquake in 1931. The vineyards of Hawke’s Bay are all within easy reach of Napier – make your own way around by car, book a chauffer-driven tour, or opt for a cycle the vines experience. Pick up a winery map from the local i-SITE information centre, and be sure to enjoy lunch at one of the fine winery restaurants.
Beautifully preserved 1930s architecture is Napier's special point of difference.
