A Tour Of Queenstown Golf Courses

Join us for a quick rundown of Queenstown's golf courses. With world class New Zealand Open courses and amazing vistas only minutes from town.

If you keep your eyes peeled as you approach Queenstown airport on your landing, there's a good chance you'll spot several of Queenstown's golf courses all situated in the Wakatipu basin, within minutes of downtown.  Even before you step off the plan you'll be within metres of the smaller Frankton Golf Course situated right at the edge of the runway, and this only sets the scene of what is to come.

Queenstown is now known as the home of the New Zealand Open, hosted in March every year and the quality of courses in the region is outstanding.  There are several oustanding golf courses in the area, as well as many non-golfing activities if you want a bit of a break from the greens, from vineyards to the ultimate in adrenaline adventures!

Join us on our quick guide to golfing in Queenstown.

Frankton Golf Centre

After landing in Queenstown Airport you could literally walk around the corner to freshen up by playing 9 holes at this family and beginner friendly golf centre.  There's also a driving range if you just want to stretch the muscles after your travels.

Jack's Point

Situated only 10 minutes drive from the airport, Jack's Point is nestled between the craggy ridges of the Remarkables mountain range with views over Lake Wakatipu towards Cecil Peak.  Jack's Point is a challenging course as the wind comes up the valley but you can also get it on a glorious sunny day, where you can relax in the clubhouse for fine food and wine to relax afterwards.  If you want to indulge you can even stay in luxurious accommodation in the middle of the course where you can relax and watch the sun going down across the lake.

When you realise this golf course sits on Kelvin Heights peninsula you won't be surprised when this course is considered as one of the most picturesque in the world.  You'll see the lake and mountains on all the holes and can jump on a quick water taxi to take you into town, or to your hotel if you have a jetty next to lakeside accommodation.

Other Golf Related Activities

If you're in the centre of Queenstown and after a bit of a fix, don't worry there's both indoor and outdoor mini golf courses to test you just as you head towards the gondola from town.
