Queenstown offers a wide variety of accommodation suitable for every budget from campervan parks and backpackers through to luxury hotel chains and boutique hotels. Where in town should you stay?
Arthur's Point is nestled at the base of Coronet Peak. It's a great location for the base of the ski field, and there is a small bowling alley, a cafe and restaurant within walking distance however there's not a great amount of choice.
Frankton (Queenstown Airport)
Unlike bigger destinations there's currently no accommodation very close to the airport apart from the odd Bed and Breakfast. There's no need for it either as it only takes 10-15 minutes (10km) to drive to the airport from the town centre, so even when Queenstown gets night flights, town centre accommodation will still be ok.
You'll find endless accommodation along the strip of road from the airport to the town centre when driving in along Frankton Road. Most of these are larger properties and hotels ranging from luxury to bed and breakfasts. The majority of the accommodation is on the lake side of the road.
There's a great walking track that stretches all the way from town to the airport. Accommodation on this strip takes you away from the hustle and bustle of town, however you'll want a car to stay here or you'll need to use the bus.
Queenstown Hill offers a few bed and breakfasts and luxury self catering options. You could be only a few minutes walk away, but you may have to walk up steep hills to get to your accommodation. Once you make your way up Queenstown Hill the views over the lake and mountains are spectacular.
Town Centre (CBD)
The majority of accommodation in Queenstown is very central and within walking distance from the town centre. Most hotels or B&Bs are just off the main thoroughfares although some of the backpacker options are right in the centre of all the action. There are two campervan parks within minutes of the town centre on foot.
In the town centre you'll find hotel chains and bed and breakfasts through to boutique hotels. There's even a campsite and caravan park right at the base of the gondola.
Wherever you stay in town hopefully the above has given you a quick overview of the different locations in Queenstown. All of them provide relatively easy access to town especially if you have a car. You're sure to enjoy the sites and activities in Queenstown from any location.
