Lone Goat, may at first seem like an unlikely name for a vineyard, but of course there is a story. There is a goat, called Ella, and she is the only one, hence the use of ‘lone’. Ella is handraised, described as the vineyard guardian, and as a goat with attitude and good taste. After a visit to Lone Goat, it has to be said that Ella has picked a great vineyard to be in charge of.
Launched in 2007, the Lone Goat Winery is open seven days for cellar door sales and wine tastings. Owners Matt King and wife Marion Seyb after taking over the established plantings of the Giesen family, are now producing their own range of award winning wines under the Lone Goat label.
The Lone Goat vineyard produces Riesling, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, two styles of Chardonnay as well as two late harvest wines.
Enjoy the some of the best wine Selwyn has to offer. Lone Goat is a part of the Selwyn Food and Wine trail.
