If you have a few hours to spend in sunny Nelson without transport, why not hire a bike and take a leisurely ride to the beach and back.
There are many rental places in the Nelson City Centre, just pop into the local i-SITE to find out all the locations. Half and Full day options to please everyone's budget. There is a cycle lane for you to ride in.
It is only a short 6 km from the city to the beach and there are restaurants and arts and crafts to entertain you once you have arrived. Take a stroll along the beach and enjoy a coffee. Head into nature and check out the wildlife or get adventurous on the hydroslide in the warmer months.
Great photo opportunities are out along the waterfront so don't forget to take your camera.
If you would like to ride a little further you may wish to carry on and link up with the Rail Way reserve and bike into Richmond for a spot of shopping at one of the many boutique stores or lunch at a cafe.
Even a little further again will get you to the start of the vineyards where you may like to try a tasting of have a lovely lunch at a winery.
Whatever you decide, you won't be disappointed.
