This walk is perfect if you prefer to leave the glacier untouched by your footprints. This guided walk winds its way up the Fox Valley to a viewpoint where you can see the ever-changing face of Te Moeka o Tuawe/Fox Glacier.
Your guide will point out ice that has travelled 12 kilometres from the base of the Southern Alps all the way to the river valley floor. It’s a fascinating area. While your guide may take you closer to the ice than any unguided walkers, the trip may also take you onto the public access track. This is dependent on the dynamic environmental conditions in the valley on any given day.
The Fox Trail requires moderate fitness. You’ll spend up to two hours walking over valley terrain that can be challenging in some places.
