Starting at the Nelson Botanical Gardens. This is where the first recognised game of rugby was played in Nelson on Saturday May 14th 1870.
This is a lovely walk to the top of a small hill, overlooking the city and the Tasman Sea. The walk is straight up which means a great thrill when you arrive at the top. There is a picnic table at the half way point for a breather and a chance to take in the views to come.
Start at the information board and choose either the left or right turn. Both will end up on the same path leading to the top. There are about three links to the main path.
You may take a pram, dogs, cycle and walk the Centre of New Zealand.
