Summer has arrived in New Zealand, and we are excited to see the influx of happy holiday seekers in Rotorua, it is our privilege to welcome them to our home town and to our motel.
Many visitors are taking advantage of our wonderful lakes and also mountain bike tracks in the forest. Rotorua is one big playground for everyone.
It’s always a real buzz around the lakes when summer arrives, with people walking, cycling, boating, kayaking, fishing and swimming. We are very lucky to be located just a couple of streets away from lake Rotorua and to be amidst the great holiday atmosphere.
1. Sulphur Point & Lake Front walking track
Relax with family and friends on the lakefront walk that follows the lake shore to Sulphur Point where you’ll also see geothermal activity and rare birdlife. take a return loop through government gardens and admire our beautiful Rotorua Museum on your way
2. Lake Front Activities for families
The Rotorua Lake Front has plenty of activities for little ones. From a small ride on train, to a playground, a gigantic slide and Mana Adventures where kids can climb inside a ball and walk on water! Plus lady Jane’s ice-cream parlor is just a stone throw away. On bad weather days Rotorua offers Playtopia Playland indoors with cafe.
3. Polynesian Spa
Enjoy hot mineral bathing at its best at Polynesian Spa. Enjoy he Lake Views while you relax in the warm healing waters. There are various options for families, adults only, private and luxury bathing.
4. Kawarau Jet
For the adrenaline seekers, hop on board of K-Jet and be in for an adventure of speed and spinning. Or try going up high above the lake parasailing behind the jet.
5. Kayaking & water bikes

6. Lakeland Queen
If you like to sit back and relax, we can recommend you board the Lakeland Queen for cruise with breakfast lunch or tea.

8. Mokoia Island Tours
In the middle of the Lake Rotorua stands a mysterious looking island once home to the love story of Hinemoa and Tutanekai, Rotorua’s own Romeo and Juliette. Mokoia Island is now a sanctuary for many of New Zealand’s endangered wildlife & rare New Zealand birds.
9. Local Market
On Thursday Evening Rotorua holds its famous night market, a great way to meet the locals and see the local produce, food and yummy and baked goods. Also the sound shell market is often on in the weekends selling arts and crafts.
10. Picnic or Fish ‘n Chips by the Lake
What better way to relax on holiday then enjoying the sun and soaking up the atmosphere whilst having a picnic by the lake!
