Wairarapa lies on the spectacular southern tip of the North Island. It's a region home to unforgettable coastal walking tracks.

Experience some of the most spectacular coastal views in the country when you take a walk in the Wairarapa. It's also a region home to wetlands and lush forest valleys.

Choose to walk the Fensham Reserve Bush Walk, an easy-going track on the outskirts of Carterton. Enjoy the birdsong which echoes through this forest before enjoying the lookout that looks over the Wairarapa Valley.

The Pinnacles Track offers a piece of Middle‑earth™ magic at it's best. Hike to the pinnacles where the scene of meeting the Army of the Dead was filmed from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. This unique hike takes around 3-4 hours return - don't forget your camera for some photos of these other-worldly landscapes.

Further north, the Castlepoint track is an easy walk that includes visiting a stunning lighthouse, a picturesque cove and panoramic views.
