Champagne Pools – Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland

\Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland is New Zealand’s most colourful geothermal attraction. Here you will find the stunning Champaign Pool with its stunning orange and emerald-green colours. Park entry provides access to the famous Champaign Pool and the famous Lady Knox Geyser which erupts daily. This is definitely one for your Instagram!

The Rotorua Museum in Government Gardens

The Rotorua Museum is one of the most photographed buildings in New Zealand for a very good reason. This incredibly beautiful building looks picture perfect from any angle – day or night. From the early evening, beautiful lights showcase the museum, and during the springtime, the Government Gardens are loaded with colourful tulips as a part of TulipFest.
Unfortunately, the museum is currently closed due to damage to the foundation caused in the Kaikoura earthquake in November 2016, but you can still visit the government gardens where the museum is located.

Kuirau Park

Kuirau Park is an iconic Rotorua attraction. Stroll through the gardens and be amazed by the natural geothermal activity where you will find an abundance of mud pools and hot springs.
Make sure you don’t miss the most photogenic section of Kuirau Park, the wooden walkway located near the intersection of Ranolf Street and Lake Road. Sunset is an ideal time to capture the perfect shot, however the rising steam will give you a magical photo any time of the day.

Lake Tarawera, Tarawera Landing

You need to add a snap of the Tarawera landing to your collection of New Zealand photos! Lake Tarawera is one of the most picturesque lakes in New Zealand with its unbeatable backdrop. It is famous also for its size, rainbow trout and for the Tarawera eruption in 1886.

The Redwoods & Redwoods Nightlights

Without doubt one of Rotorua’s greatest treasures is the Whakarewarewa Forest, also known by locals as ‘The Redwoods’. You are spoilt for choice for great photo opportunities among the towering native and exotic trees. If you’re up for some night-time photography a real treat is the Redwood Nightlights, a magical display of lanterns which light up the forest from dusk.

Happy snapping, Instagramming and sharing on social media! Don’t forget to share your photos with the hashtag #RotoruaNZ and #NZMustDo!
