Te Aroha and its district: Cheese lovers welcome!

The Matamata-Piako District is famous for dairy farming and has a few gems to offer for foodies.

When visiting the Waikato region and especially the Matamata-Piako Disctrict, one can’t help but notice the major role dairy plays for its economy: rolling hills and lush, green pastures, big herds of cows and giant dairy factories dotted along the road.

It is because of this, that visitors shouldn’t leave our region without having tasted some of the delicious dairy products available. Here are a couple of suggestions:

Aroha Organic Goat Cheese www.organicgoatcheese.co.nz

Handcrafted organic goat cheeses in a variety of flavours from “Pepperazzi” to “Nutty Nanny”. John and Jeanne are passionate about their goats (pictured) and it shows in the way they care for them and ultimately in the quality of their cheeses. Certified organic, GE free.. and very addictive!
