New Zealand is jam-packed with activities that will get the adrenaline pumping, heart racing and a few that will quite simply blow your mind. At Wild Kiwi we have spent years travelling, experience what is out there and this allows us to give some pretty awesome advice. As there are so many we have written up this article to let you know some of our favourites here at Wild Kiwi.
Stopping at Franz Josef will be on most travellers’ bucket lists. When most people speak about Franz Josef they immediately think of the glaciers and the opportunity to get to experience these from the air and then to be immersed in the middle of this amazing landscape. This is an adventure based activity from start to finish. From the moment you step on board the chopper, your experience the jaw-dropping landscape. You'll enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, and with plenty of photo opportunities, and the chance to learn more about this magnificent glacier which is an invaluable experience. Simply mesmerising- this activity is one of our favourites.
Once you arrive in Wanaka you will have endless options for lake-based water activities, adrenaline pumping 4 wheel drives, jet boats and jumping out a plane over the beautiful lake. As we are all guilty of being adrenaline junkies one of our top picks would be with Oxbow experience. With so many options to choose from including the Jet Sprint - currently, the fastest 4 seater ride in the world going from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 2.5 seconds, this adventure playground can only be described as a wicked day out.
Queenstown on the other hand is voted the adventure capital of New Zealand so it is obvious why so many people get overwhelmed with what to choose between the options of real life Mario Kart, Skydiving, the beautiful Milford Sound or deciding to relax after an adrenaline-packed few days overlooking the picturesque mountains in one of Queenstown’s amazing spas. The best view of Queenstown is in our opinion by air so overlooking the beautiful surrounding mountains while skydiving is our idea of fun and finishing it off with a parachute over the stunning Remarkables mountain range and Lake Wakatipu would be the way to do it.
Heading North, your New Zealand trip would not be complete without stopping at the stunning Lake Tekapo where our best-rated activity is star gazing. Here you can witness some of the clearest skies in all of New Zealand, completely free of air pollution allowing a crystal-clear view of all the stars and the milky way. If you have a DSLR and are quite photo savvy, then one of the guides can set this up for you to take your own pics of these beautiful stars. Depending on the time of year you may be lucky to experience the fantastic Southern lights
If all these experiences sound like bucket list material, then you can experience all of these of Wild Kiwi on our 7day/6night South Island road trip.so what are you waiting for – adventure awaits.
