At Bella Vista we’re huge fans of getting out on our beautiful Queenstown mountains and living life to the fullest – so we’ve put together a Ski Queenstown overview to assist those who are thinking about joining us down here this ski season. Queenstown Accomodation The first thing that needs to be sorted is the Queenstown accommodation, as it books out quickly over the ski season. Our recommendation is to get in early and book a room. Bella Vista Queenstown is central to town, provides a dry room and ski storage facilities, and depending on your requirements you can book a studio, one, two or three bedroom option.

Queenstown Ski Holiday - Top 10 Tips
#1 – Best Ski Breakfast? Of course it has to be Bespoke Kitchen, head along and try the best pancakes in town!
#2 – Snuggle up by the Open Fire We keep looking but find it hard to go past Queenstown’s iconic Eichardt's Bar. Mulled wine and tapas are always a winning combination.
#3 – Ultimate way to warm up? Onsen Hot Pools- After a day on the mountain you’ll want nothing else but to relax and unwind.
#4 – Après Ski? If you haven’t tried World Bar’s famous teapot cocktails, you’ll need to rectify that immediately.
#5 – Worked up an appetite? Then head straight to Stratosfare Restaurant, this buffet is out of this world.
#6 – Top ski season tip? Try out the in-house ski fitting options available – they’ll come to your Bella Vista accommodation and you’ll miss the queues on the mountain.
#7 – First Timer, what do you recommend? Queenstown is the perfect choice for first time skiers. Each of the mountains offers package options including lessons, ski rental and lift passes.
#8 – Best ski recommendation – Have a go at night skiing at Coronet Peak, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday.

Taking the kids: Taking your children to the mountains can be a rewarding but also challenging prospect. If you would prefer to get out on the mountain without kids in tow, each of the mountains offer kids clubs and lessons that will see your children progress with their skiing and make new friends. Cardrona and Coronet Peak also offer kindergarten options for the real littlies.
Equipment Hire: If you’re not a regular at the mountain you may not have all the gear you require. Ski, snowboard and clothing hire (sometimes with the exception of gloves, hats and goggles for health reasons) are available on each of the mountains. Plus if you hire off the mountain you can usually store overnight for free.
There are also various other locations around Queenstown to rent your equipment, including one that will visit you in the comfort of your Bella Vista accommodation, fit you and see you ready for the mountain while you sip on a wine!
The Remarkables – An easy 35 minutes from downtown Queenstown, ‘The Remarks’ as it’s known by the locals offers something for everyone, from beginners and families through to expert skiers.

• 385 hectares - 30% beginner, 40% intermediate, 30% expert
• 1943M high 468M vertical drop
You can drive yourself and park in one of the car parks available (you will require snow chains). Alternatively you can catch a ride on the Remarkables transport service, Snowline Express that offers return trips from the Queenstown Snow Centre – too easy!
Mountain Tip: For all you backcountry lovers, the 1.5km Homeward Bound is out of this world!
Cardrona - A great mountain to explore and enjoy- only a 55 minute drive over the Crowne Range.
• Base Area Elevation: 1670m
• Highest Lifted Point: 1860m
• Vertical Rise: 600m
• 345 hectares – 25% beginner, 25% intermediate, 30% advanced & 20% expert
Getting to Cardrona is a 60 min drive from Queenstown, if you choose to drive yourself, please remember the weather can be changeable and to always carry chains.
To make things easy there’s a drop off zone at the top, then you can park in the lower carparks and catch a free shuttle back to base area. Alternatively park 1km up Cardrona Mountain and catch the Pine Tree Shuttle Service, or take all the stress out of it and use the shuttle service from Queenstown.
Mountain Tip: If travelling with a group, book your children (10 and above) into the Ride Tribe option in advance with a few of their mates, that way they’ll have their own private group experience!
Coronet Peak - Only a 25-minute drive from downtown Queenstown, this mountain has it all, plus the allure of night skiing.
• 2 Terrain parks
• 1649M highest point, 481M vertical drop
• 280 hectares – 32% beginner, 41% intermediate, 27% advanced
Jump aboard the Snowline Express bus and catch a ride to the mountain – departs from Queenstown Snow Centre or drive yourself but remember to carry chains.
Mountain Tip: Check out the Night Skiing on offer Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Coronet Peak is the only mountain in New Zealand that offers a night skiing option, and it’s well worth a try.
