The Colombo

Inspired by the distinctive shopping and eating establishments of Europe, The Colombo combines Christchurch's iconic and distinctive character with effortless European flair. Open Air Markets

For an authentic Canterbury experience, there’s nothing like chatting to an artisan producer at an open air market.

• The charming Christchurch Farmers' Market is held every Saturday at historic Riccarton House. Indulge in locally made meats, cheeses, and delicious locally made goodies. The Sunday Artisan Market is held in the same place on Sundays, and includes locally made arts and crafts in addition to ready-to-eat foods. 
• No visit to Christchurch is complete without a trip to Akaroa, the charming French-inspired town on the Banks Peninsula. The Akaroa Farmers' Market, held every Saturday from spring to autumn, is known for its delicious cheeses, olives and nuts.
• Just north of Christchurch is Waimakariri & Waipara Valley, where a farmers market runs every Friday morning in Ohoka. The Waipara Valley Farmers' Market is located in Amberly first thing every Saturday, or head to Oxford on a Sunday morning for stalls bursting with delicious local fare for brunch.
