This is a 40km one day cycle ride from Spooners tunnel on the Great Taste Trail back to Nelson Airport. We will take you to the tunnel portal to start your ride through the 1.5 km long disused rail tunnel (the longest in the southern hemisphere available for cycling). Feel the wind in your hair as you cycle downhill for the next 10 km, then alongside meandering Waiti stream, past free range chicken farms and picturesque disused hop kilns. Cycle through Wakefield (take a side trip to Higgins Park Steam Museum) maybe grab a taste of the Trail at the famous Wakefield bakery, Brightwater township, birthplace of Lord Rutherford, visit cafes, wineries for wine tastings, taste locally made cheeses and artisan beers. There's a taste for everyone.
