New Zealand – the ultimate film destination

Known as the home of movies like Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Chronicles of Narnia and Pete's Dragon, New Zealand is often referred to as the Home of Middle‑earth. But the country is more than just stunning landscapes and dramatic backdrops. It also boasts first-class film production facilities and top creative minds, making it a top movie-making destination.

For this reason Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks Pictures chose New Zealand as the primary filming location for Ghost in the Shell (a live action version of the famous manga series). With the majority of filming taking place at Peter Jackson’s Stone Street Studios, local and international production crew worked to transform Wellington into a futuristic Asian city.

The nice thing about Wellington is you’re really sort of plugged into the heart of some really unspoiled, natural landscape. You don’t have to go very far to see places that only exist here in the whole world and are staggeringly beautiful.
