It all started four years ago with the temporary road closure of the lake end of Tutanekai St where there was a cluster of local eateries and bars in the one location. The road closure was a trial development affectionately known as “Eat Streat” (Get it? Str-eat)
Eat Streat has proved to be a success, enjoyed by both local and international visitors and of course the restaurant owners and therefore it was an easy decision to make the space a permanent fixture.
The $2 million upgrade to Rotorua's “Eat Streat” was completed in March 2014 and features a timber structure which creates a covered central walkway with retractable roofing. The unique geothermal heating underlay also keeps the area warm during winter allowing for all weather, year round, outdoor alfresco dining.
