Whatever the reason might be, you have some time, but an hour tops. What if there was a summary of the best one-hour activities to save you even more time? Well, here's one!
Our List of Top 6 One-Hour Activities in Queenstown
1. Hire a bike
A fantastic way to see different angles of Queenstown is by hiring a bike and cycling around the edges of Lake Wakatipu. Bike tracks run throughout the town and the gardens so everywhere is accessible for one hour adventuring. Kiwi Sports on Earl Street have a great selection of bike rentals from $19 per hour!
2. Thunder Jet
You can't visit Queenstown and not take part in jet boating. Jet boating is an iconic New Zealand activity and Queenstown is the capitol of that activity. Thunder Jet is located on Steamer Wharf right beside the mighty TSS Earnslaw berth and is the perfect adrenalin option to fill in that precious hour. Let's make it count!
Take a ride up the Skyline Gondola and have a go (or three) at the luge! With two thrilling tracks to choose from you'll be amazed at just how much fun it is to whiz through tunnels, banks and turns all encompassed in a magnificent postcard view.
4. Heli Tours
See the beautiful Queenstown from above with Heli Tours! Enjoy a scenic 20 minute flight over Lake Wakatipu before experiencing an amazing Alpine Landing with panoramic views of the area. Make sure you take plenty of photos for those bragging rights!
5. Frisbee Golf
Frisbee or disc golf is one of Queenstown's hidden gems. The 18-hole (basket) course is situated in Queenstown Gardens and is FREE! You can hire the frisbee from many places around town for a minute amount and they usually throw in a scorecard as well. Watch out for errant frisbees while in the area though!
6. Atlas Steak
One of the best little finds in Queenstown (in our opinion, of course) is Atlas Beer Cafe located on Steamer Wharf. The Atlas $20 steak is a taste experience that's not to be missed and is a huge hit with the locals. Priced and portioned well, it's definitely an #NZMustDo in Queenstown.
