Wellington is the ideal spot for your New Zealand escape. With wineries in the North and secluded golden bays to the South, luxury is never far away.
It’s all too rare that a nation’s political capital will also be its creative hub. However, if you place the same premium on your imagination as you do on your gastronomic inclinations and creature comforts, you’ll be pleased to find this is indeed the case with Wellington. This is a city that’s positively palpable with creativity – in art, design, film and hospitality.
Both Wellington and its surrounds are brimming with galleries, design shops and internationally renowned film companies as well as premium lodgings, eateries and wineries - which in addition to offering unbridled creature comforts, cuisine and wine, also happen to over deliver in terms of je ne sais quoi.
A mere whisk away by helicopter, the Wairarapa region is home to one of the nation’s premium wine producing regions. To give you an idea of the Wairarapa’s output, there are no less than 20 wineries within an easy walk or cycle of Martinborough’s town square alone - and we can arrange a private, completely bespoke experience at any one of them.
The region is also home to the legendary Wharekauhau Lodge. Set in a working sheep station and overlooking the rugged splendor of Palliser Bay, Wharekauhau’s Edwardian splendor and sheer luxury made it a favourite of Prince William and Princess Kate during their 2014 New Zealand tour. Earlier that year, one guest booked out the entire lodge for an exclusive, private performance by American musician Donovan Frankenreiter.
