Discover the stunning Wanaka region as you travel from Wanaka Lake, through open tussock grasslands to the summit of Roy's Peak.

The track begins by zigzagging along a steep 4WD track from the carpark to the conservation area. From there, continue on through wild tussock grasslands until you reach Roy's Peak summit.

Along the way, take time to enjoy the spectacular views from the ridgeline, which take in most of Lake Wanaka and the surrounding peaks, including Mount Aspiring.

Getting there

  • Start at the Roy's Peak Track carpark on Mt Aspiring Road.
  • Parking can be limited at peak times, consider walking or biking to the track starting point.
  • Mountain bikes are not permitted on the Roy's Peak Track.

  • This track crosses private land.
  • Stay on the marked track.
  • Leave gates as you find them.
  • Drinking water is not available on this track.
  • Toilets are located 200m from the carpark.
