Waihi Beach is a friendly seaside town just off SH2 approx 2 hours from Auckland - 40 minutes from Tauranga.The beach is a hidden jewel on the east coast.

Waihi Beach is a seaside town 2 hours from Auckland city and 1 1/2 hours from Auckland International airport. On the east coast Waihi Beach stretches for 9kms and is safe for swimming and surfing.

Waihi Beach is on the cusp of both the Coromandel and Bay of Plenty regions so visitors can access the best of both regions.Day trips to the Coromandel are common with visitors keen to see and experiece Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cove.

We recommend guests check the low tide times so they can plan their trip around it and also see the rest of the eastern side of the Coromandel.Driving time one way approx 2 hours

Also popular is a day trip to the Waitomo Caves and to pick up the national native bird museum in Otorohanga close by.

The caves are something else - quite magical and experiencing seeing a kiwi amongst our other native birds is quite something.Drive time one way approx 2 hours

Close by in Waihi there is gold  and gold mining history-  the Martha mine is a working gold mine and can be seen in the main street of Waihi.

Mine tours are available from the information centre daily.

The Karangahake gorge is a must see. Gold mining history and stunning beauty combine to make a great day out at your own leisurely pace.
