Getting There
Starting at Christchurch take State Highway 1, travelling north until you reach Waipara and the turnoff to State Highway 7. Follow this road and take the well signed turn off on the right  to the Hanmer Springs alpine village.

Highlights
An easy and scenic drive around this entire region is 370 kilometres, with towns and villages linked by the Alpine Pacific Triangle (APT) Touring Route. This route begins in Christchurch, the southern point is the Waipara Valley wine region, then head inland to the alpine village of Hanmer Springs, where the natural springs’ healing properties are well known. Hanmer Springs is full of adventurous activities, from mountain biking trails to jet boating, rafting and bungy-jumping. Although Hanmer Springs can be reached from Christchurch in 90 minutes, you need to set aside a couple of days to do the complete Alpine Pacific Triangle (APT) Touring Route.
