Living and working on the Tutukaka Coast and playing there as well!
The best surf beach on the Tutukaka Coast, and ideal for any level, as the wave is kind in Kiddy's Corner, and wicked further down the break.
Sandy Bay is renown for some great waves, and regular surf comps, with local club North Coast Board Riders holding an annual Polar Bear Surf Comp in August.
Nice clean waves, with a great back drop looking out over to the Poor Knights Islands, an offshore wind is perfect when the easterly swell rolls in.
A short drive from Whangarei, and one of many Tutukaka Coast beaches popular with locals all year round.
Local company Tutukaka Surf have board hire, and surf lessons, as well as groovy beach wear in their shop. Don't worry if you have forgotten your jandals! They have sanuks and havianas in store.
Dive! Tutukaka is New Zealand’s largest dive charter operator, Qualmark endorsed, PADI 5 Star IDC, with professional and personal service.
