This vast system of drowned valleys provides sheltered waters for boating, fishing and diving.
New Zealand has been recognised for its diversity as a holiday destination, breathtaking scenery, abundant culture, gourmet food and wine and a seemingly unending list of unique experiences.

Jules Lund says "This country really does have an adventure for everyone, incredible scenery, great cities, gourmet food and wine, world class accommodation, friendly locals and of course a friendly exchange rate. Its no wonder it’s a personal favourite of the Getaway crew too."

A one hour Getaway special showcased this diversity with the use of well-known presenters exploring different regions throughout New Zealand.

Nat discovered one of New Zealand’s popular walking tracks in the Marlborough region. The Queen Charlotte Track is a 71km track which passes through lush coastal forest, historic bays and offers walkers unlimited views of both Queen Charlotte and Keneperu Sounds.

Ice hiking at Fox Glacier is the closest you'll ever come to walking on water.
Jason does what Kiwis do best - Adventure. At 13 kms long, Fox Glacier is the longest of the New Zealand West Coast glaciers and falls 2,600 metres on its journey from the base of the Southern Alps to the West Coast. Why not take a scenic heli flight over this inspiring sight? For the more adventurous guided glacier hikes are a must do.

Dermott discovers one of New Zealand’s top holiday destinations by campervan. Renowned for its natural beauty, the Coromandel is blessed with hundreds of natural hideaways, beautiful white sandy beaches and native rainforest. With over 400 kilometers of coastline you are bound to find your own piece of paradise. And don’t forget to head to Hot Water Beach to dig your own hot water pool right on the waters edge.

Finally Jules rediscovers some local history along the Forgotten World Highway. New Zealand’s first heritage trail, this scenic route explores the ever-changing landscape between Stratford and Taumarunui. Drive over four mountain saddles, alongside a spectacular gorge and through the 180 metre long Moki tunnel. Travellers can stop and stretch their legs at any of the historic sites and scenic walks along the way.
