Three famous Japanese celebrities have been captivated by New Zealand during
the recent filming of a television special 'Discover Samurai Spirit in New Zealand'.
Actors Shoei, Kampei Hazama and Rei Yoshii spent a fun filled week in New Zealand
visiting famous movie locations and trying out some of the country’s exciting
activities.
The celebrities went behind the scenes to discover the hidden stories behind
filming locations for 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy and 'The Last Samurai'.
Their adventures will be featured in a 90 minute television special that will
air on TV Asahi on Saturday, 11th of September (13:55-15:25pm).
New Zealand's Natural Beauty
Shoei and Kampei Hazama, who played together in the movie 'School Wars', said
they were overwhelmed by the natural beauty of New Zealand but they were blown
away by the warmth of the people.
"I definitely want to come back on holiday next time", said the actor Shoei.
Rei Yoshii took part in activities such as river rafting in the location that
was used for the 'River Anduin' in 'The Lord of the Rings'.
Yoshii san said she was excited to visit locations where Tom Cruise had filmed
scenes for 'The Last Samurai'. Yoshii said she pushed herself to try new experiences
such as jet boating simply because of the beautiful natural environment.
It was the first New Zealand visit for the three actors and they all agreed it
was the most hospitable place they have ever visited outside of Japan.
Actors Shoei, Kampei Hazami and Rei Yoshii took part in a range of activities
