In August 2005, Maori art and artisans from New Zealand made a ground-breaking journey to San Francisco. While the event is now over, part of the exhibition continues to tour the US.

Maori Art Meets America

On August 4th the Ohlone tribe of California welcomed the fully-manned waka (canoe) Te Ika a Maui on the beach at San Francisco's Maritime Park. The ceremony marked the arrival of Maori Art in America.
