The largest town in "the Maniototo", as this area of Central Otago is called locally, Ranfurly is admired for its 1930s architecture. As a popular stop on the Otago Central Rail Trail cycle journey, Ranfurly offers a choice of eating places and a broad range of accommodation, including motels, hotels, backpacker lodges and a camping ground. Local attractions include the Art Deco Gallery, an Art Deco walk and the display centre at the old train station, which has interesting exhibits and audio visuals.
