Transport options in Central Otago
Central Otago is brilliantly central (hence its name). You can approach the region
from any direction. For much of the year, driving conditions are excellent. Only
in winter will you need to take special care. To enjoy some of the region's more
remote sights, consider renting a motorhome - in many places, you'll have the
splendid scenery all to yourself.
Getting to and from Central Otago

Drive to Central Otago from the north on State Highway 8; from the south on State
Highway 6 or 8; from the west on State Highway 6; or from the east on State Highway

The following companies provide regular coach services to Central Otago from
Dunedin, Queenstown and Christchurch: Intercity, Atomic Shuttles, Southern Link.
By Air
The closest airport to Central Otago is in Queenstown, just over an hour's drive
away. Queenstown international airport is well served by Air New Zealand and Qantas.
Air New Zealand flies direct from Sydney and Melbourne year round and extends
this service to encompass Brisbane in winter. Qantas also offers winter services
out of Sydney and Brisbane. Domestically, Queenstown connects to all the main
centres.

and connect with a coach service to Cromwell or Alexandra.
