On a clear day the volcanic cone of Mount Taranaki is visible throughout South Taranaki and offers a wonderfully unique backdrop to the province. Egmont National Park is easily accessible and offers tramping, climbing, skiing and accommodation options.
The area is also rich in cultural history with many well preserved pa sites, original blockhouses and museums telling the tale of early South Taranaki. For the more adventurous there is an abundance
of activities including tramping, climbing, surfing and dam dropping.
