The city of Hamilton is carved in two by the mighty Waikato River. Attractions include gardens, riverboat cruising and a giant free flight aviary. Excellent restaurants and cafes can be found at the southern end of the main street.
The road to Raglan will give you a close up view of Waikato dairy farming. On the way you’ll drive through the rural villages of Whatawhata and Te Uku.
Raglan’s culture couldn’t be further away from farming. It’s a town built on the fame of the Manu Bay left hand break. Surfers come from all over the world to catch the perfect waves. Restaurants, galleries and craft shops have sprung up to cater for visitors and surf-crazy locals. While in Raglan you can learn to surf (there’s a surfing school), walk to Bridal Veil Falls, go horse trekking or simply enjoy the amazing beach environment.
