Nelson - Greymouth - Christchurch

Overview

This route takes you to key attractions on the west coast, then over the alps to Christchurch. Depart Nelson and drive to the Takaka area, where you can access beaches and walking tracks. You’ll enjoy driving to Westport – there’s a lot of see on the way. Explore caves, tracks and surf beaches from Karamea, then stop at Punakaiki and visit the Pancake Rocks on the way to Greymouth. Take a memorable drive across the main divide to the village of Arthur’s Pass, a hiking and climbing destination. Finally, follow a trail of towns to the attractions of Christchurch.
